Carny - I'm getting a brother

I'm getting a brother!

Benny, a ministry dog will be joining the family at the end of the month.

According to Mom, ministry dogs are a non-anxious presence in discussions with people who are in crisis (death in the family, discussions of abuse, relationship issues, etc.). These dogs give unconditional love that helps in many situations. They help children to meet the new pastor. They help people in nursing homes remember the joys of their own pets. They provide stress relief in stressful times. They are also wonderful additions to church services.

I try to do all of these things too but I admit that I am getting older and the cold weather is harder on me than it used to be. I really enjoy snoozing by the radiator and staying warm. I will still come to church as often as I can but I may take some time off on occasion.

This reminds me that God has created a season for everything. We sometimes think we will just keep on being the two year old dog in our prime but our bodies start to object to that view. As I age gracefully my heart is still a young pup who loves people deeply and with abandon. How much more God must love all of God's creation! Thank you, my creator, for this beautiful life in this beautiful world.
